Kenya Airways and IATA have a cordial working relationship with regards to improving the training standards in the aviation industry in Africa as a whole. This is in line with Kenya Airway’s core purpose of contributing to the sustainable development of Africa
In June 2009 , Kenya Airways and IATA formalized their first training partnership (IATA Regional Training Partner). In 2011 & May 2013 Kenya Airways signed another agreement on the IATA Approved Training Centre (ATC) and IATA Approved Training School for Dangerous Goods respectively.
RTC's are independent aviation training organizations that offer a selection of IATA classroom courses and diploma programs delivered by IATA instructors with IATA course material. Participants enjoy a similar learning experience to that of an IATA Training Center, only closer to home.

IATA Authorized Training Centers (ATC) are specialized training institutions that are authorized to teach IATA Training Programs in the fields of Aviation, Travel and Tourism, Cargo and Dangerous Goods Regulations). Authorization to teach these courses is granted based on demonstrated instructional expertise in the courses of interest, as well as the institution's overall ability to provide quality training. While ATCs recruit and train students for IATA programs, examinations are organized by IATA in their country or region. In October 2011, Kenya Airways rolled out its first program under this partnership, the IATA Foundation course, which is the globally accepted international training standard for travel agents.
